Sesame Chicken

Ingredients

  • chicken
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup of soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup of hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup of honey
  • 2 tsp of sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 6 green shallots, trimmed, shredded

Method

1. Preheat oven to 200ÂșC. Line an ovenproof dish with baking paper. Remove backbone from chickens and flatten by pressing down on breasts. Put chickens, skin-side up, in dish.
2. Put garlic, soy, hoisin, honey and sesame oil in a bowl, whisk well with a fork, then spoon over chickens. Pour water around chickens, cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and cook for a further 15 minutes.
3. Cut chickens into serving-sized pieces and serve with green shallots.
